The Marshall Scholarships offer support to highly talented young Americans pursuing graduate degrees in the United Kingdom.

Annually, up to 50 scholarships are granted, enabling recipients to undertake graduate studies at any UK university, regardless of their chosen field of study.

The program’s primary objective is to provide intellectually distinguished American students, who are considered the future leaders of their nation, with the opportunity to further their education in the UK.

Eligibility

Applicants must be US citizens and hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in the United States, with a minimum GPA of 3.7.

To be eligible for scholarships commencing in October 2024, candidates must have graduated from their undergraduate institution after April 2021.

Those currently pursuing or possessing a British degree or its equivalent are not eligible to apply.

Scholarship Value

The Marshall Scholarship covers various aspects of the recipient’s academic journey, including university fees, living expenses, an annual book grant, a thesis grant, research funding, daily travel allowances, round-trip airfare between the United States and the UK, and, if applicable, support for a dependent spouse.

The Two Year Marshall Scholarship is initially valid for 2 academic years (equivalent to 22 months) and can be extended for a third academic year under special circumstances and subject to funding availability.

The One Year Marshall Scholarship is valid for 1 academic year (12 months) and cannot be extended.

Application Instructions

Applications should be submitted in one of eight specified regions in the United States. Candidates may choose the region that corresponds to their permanent home address, ordinary place of residence/employment, or the region where they are currently studying.
