Fully Funded PhD in Computer Science at Dalhousie University
The Faculty of Computer Science at Dalhousie University is the premier academic research institution in Information Technology in Atlantic Canada. Since our founding in 1997, the Faculty has developed research strengths across five major areas: Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Human-Computer Interaction, Visualization & Graphics, Systems, Algorithms & Bioinformatics, and Computer Science Education.
The PhD program is designed to focus you on research early, under the mentorship of a thesis supervisor, assisted by a supervisory committee. Students are expected to lead a well-defined component of a wider project, and be the prime author in the resulting publications.

PhD in Computer Science Program Requirements
1. Applicants must have a strong Grade Point Average (GPA) in a master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
2. Applicants should provide evidence of research experience, such as publications and thesis summaries.
3. Applicants will only be admitted with the support of a supervisor. We encourage applicants to identify and connect with faculty members before applying to the program.
4. Applicants are expected to have a knowledge base equivalent to our third-year core computer science undergraduate curriculum.
PhD Funding Coverage
PhD students making satisfactory progress are fully funded for tuition and school fees, plus a minimum of $18,000 per year for at least four years. This funding commitment includes a requirement to be a teaching assistant for two terms each year.
